IF YOU LIVE IN VENTURA COUNTY, CA - and you need assistance with your military records, VA rating, or help for any family member who served in the US military at any time (on any subject), contact the Veterans Service Office, 1701 Pacific Ave., Suite 110, Oxnard, CA 93033; phone (805) 385-6366 / fax (805) 385-6371. The Veterans Service Officer is George Compton, a retired Army Colonel (he is a good man). This will not cost you anything except your time - this service is provided by the County of Ventura.
George Compton also writes a weekly column in the Ventura County Star, called the Veteran's Advisor. It currently is published in the Saturday edition, in Section B.
If you need copies of your military documents (such as discharge form DD-214), minor correction to your records, or copies of a family members records, click HERE. This site is a collaboration between the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense. You will still need to print a form, sign it, then send it in, but it shortens up the process a lot. Just follow the directions.
Application for Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County membership. Print the
application from your word processor, DOWNLOAD it in ".rtf"
(rich text format -
RECOMMENDED).
NOTE: All Word Processing programs
will open RTF
files. To save it to your favorite location (such as My Documents), just click on
the "DOWNLOAD" in blue, and then save it where you wish. You may then view
it and/or print it through your word processing program. This will create a better
image, on one page!

Please Read This!
Due to the many imposters out there who, for some reason, want to be known as a "combat vet" (even if they really did serve, but not as they are presenting), there are resources available to help expose them for what they are: WANNABE's. We earned where we are today, the hard way, and cannot understand why anyone would want to do this. Please read this, a reprint from the June 18, 2003 American Legion Magazine. The truth is out there, if you're willing to look for it.
